Obituary of Martha Richards

Martha Chumley Richards, age 87, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Fies officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton, Georgia.

Martha was born in Marble Hill, Georgia to the late Willie Chumley and Carura Hyde. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Richards; son, Larry Richards; sister, Juanita Gustafson, and brother, Edwin Chumley.

Martha is survived by her daughters, Donna (Walter) Exley, Genia Richards; granddaughters, Alicia Exley, Rachel (Dan) Layson, Karen (Chuck) Smith; great granddaughters, Ivanee Layson, Shani Layson, Khloe Smith, and a host of extended friends and family.

Martha worked hard providing for her family. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking homemade meals, painting, arranging flowers, gardening as well as watching and feeding birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. She also loved spending time with her family and visiting with her friends at Bible Baptist Temple. All who knew her loved her.
