Debbie was such a servant of Jesus to our family. She showed love compassion wonderful care and certainly was the very extension of the love of Christ with her acts of kindness as she cared for our parents Lucien and Verla Tunison for 5 years . The Bible teaches that we need to be the hands and feet and heart of Jesus and she was certainly all of that . Debbie had beautiful hands and always pretty nails. She would comfort mama and daddy with her hands over their arthritic rough hands to calm pray and comfort them in many ways. She used her hands to cook special favorite meals for them and she drove them on many rides to what daddy referred to as yankee town in Macon where he used to live. He would go to the same spots each time but Debbie always would act like it was her first trip there . She would listen to his stories of World War Two and his earlier years for hours as if the first time she heard them. Our mama had significant memory loss and at times confusion but Debbie could calm her when she was agitated. Debbie would just place her hands and arms around mama and she would calm very quickly. Debbie was there till both died and she provided such love and care to them. Debbie would watch John Hagee and introduced mama to her pastor Trey on television and she would read scripture to them both and she prayed with them. Debbie would get daddy ice cream watermelon and whatever he wanted and she allowed our parents to have such a wonderful life in their last years. What a heart for Christ! Our family watched as she showed by example how to work as a true Christian . She shared the very heart of Jesus with her hands and her feet in those flip flops with her pretty nails and we saw the love that she shared with our parents . She prepared special dishes they both loved especially on hollidays but also whenever they needed a special treat . I’m sure that when she entered heaven God held her and said “well done good and faithful servant” . Ginny Blankenship Lynda Dawson and Judy Gay are certainly blessed to have encountered your love for Jesus and your willingness to share it . We were blessed beyond measure by your life!
